Chimposiums are one-hour, educational workshops involving world-renowned signing chimpanzees. Chimposiums begin on Saturday MARCH 6 and end the last Sunday in NOVEMBER. In March we offer 10:45 on Saturdays and 12:30 on Sundays, then in April we add additional times of 9:15 on Saturdays and 2:00 on Sundays - call us today to reserve your spot!

Located on the Central Washington University campus, in Ellensburg, Washington, the institute (CHCI) is designed to facilitate research on primate communication--human as well as chimpanzee. It serves as a training center for students and as an educational center for the general public.

Chimposiums for the public are held each weekend, March through November,(Except Easter Sunday, C.W.U. Graduation Saturday, and Labor Day Weekend Saturday) at the following times:

Saturday Mornings - 9:15 & 10:45 a.m. Sunday Afternoons - 12:30 & 2:00 p.m.

RESERVATIONS ARE HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! Sessions may fill up or be cancelled if the minimum reservation requirement is not fulfilled! Please call us before you plan to attend to make sure we can offer the chimposium!!

Guests should check in 15 minutes prior to above times.

  • Saturdays from 10:45 a.m. to 11:45 a.m.
  • Sundays from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m.
  • Sundays from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m.
