-- Cousins Alicia Snow and Brianna Sanford have been working together to form a Craft Fair benefiting breast cancer charities, including Susan G. Komen for the Cure, on July 24 at the Van Community Center. The show will feature local crafters and bakers as well as face-painting and a raffle from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. In addition, goodie bags will be given to the first 25 shoppers.

Craft for a Cure came about when Brianna Sanford, a 5th grade teacher, and her husband Joseph Sanford, a veteran of the US Army, decided to take part in the Susan G. Komen 3 Day for the Cure. The craft show was set up to help raise money for Susan G Komen for the Cure as well as other breast cancer charities.

“Alicia (Sanford’s cousin) is an avid crafter. When she thought of creating a craft sale benefitting the fight against breast cancer, we decided to jump in with both feet and just go for it,” said Mrs. Sanford.

The booth fees from the vendors will go to the charities as well as any money raised from the raffle and face painting. One vendor has created limited-time earrings specifically for the show. One dollar from each sale of these will benefit breast cancer charity.

The creators of the show have given a list of vendors as well as their personal story at www.craft4acure.com. Snow and Sanford hope that this is one of many future craft shows in which they can raise money to benefit charity.
