This weekend in the Tyler / Longview City area ...
There is going to be a lot of music performances going on this weekend...Wade Bowen will play at the Down Under Pub in Tyler tonight; Born 2 Nothing, Downsiid and Fistful of war are playing at Clicks on Saturday; Miller Row and Texas BlackWater at the Side Pocket on Saturday; Something Blue at the Half Moon Grill & Saloon on Saturday.
Tinderbox will be performing at Crossroads Music Company Venue on Sunday! The acoustic folk rock pop duo has “honey like” vocals and intricate finger style guitar Lovely-hooky-mellow, they are from the United Kingdom and is poised to ignite the acoustic folk world World-wide miracle in a matchbox! Go check them out!
Planetarium Show: “Cowboy Astronomer” is this weekend at the Hudnall Planetarium in Tyler Junior College. Join the Cowboy Astronomer as he spins a few yarns about the stars. Your students will be captivated as Baxter Black, noted cowboy humorist and poet, relates numerous tales about the stars. He tells some cowboy stories about the stars, a few Native American Indian star stories, as well as some of the familiar Greek constellation stories. Along the way he hits on a 'good store' of science information about the universe, too. If you’re looking for a show on mythology, this is it.
Fine Arts Concert Series with Chris O’Brien at the Longview Museum Of Fine Arts is this Sunday. A born performer, O’Brien is on the road for most of the year, headlining in clubs from the East Coast to the West Coast. He’s regularly featured as a headliner at Cambridge’s legendary Club Passim and the Freight & Salvage in Berkeley, California as well as the Iron Horse in Northampton, MA. He’s performed at many of the country’s finest festivals including the Falcon Ridge Folk Festival, Kerrville Folk Festival, and the Telluride Bluegrass Festival. He has been invited to open for some of the finest songwriters in the country, including Ellis Paul, Antje Duvekot, David Wilcox, Richard Shindell and Cheryl Wheeler. Chris has plans to put together his first European tour in the fall of 2010. It's going to be a great show so be sure to attend!
The 3rd Annual Cause for Paws will be held at the beautiful Villa Di Felicita this Saturday at 6:00 PM. This year Miranda Lambert will perform a full band show. Special guests will include GAC's Nan Kelley, Whiskey Myers and Kacey Musgraves. Miranda raised over $250,000 last year for animal charities. You can join her in the fight to help abandoned, homeless or neglected animals by taking part in this event!
